We began pie making in 2012, initially taking them out to farmers markets along with the rest of our produce. We were approached by local small pubs who wanted to stock them.
We are very pleased to announce that we won a bronze award at Bakewell show 2016 for our large Stilton topped pork pie. Many people tell us they’re the best pie they’ve ever eaten and they now have a dedicated local following.
Smith Hall Farm pork pies are only made with choice cuts of meat from our own pigs. The prime pork is coarsely minced to give our pies a better texture. The pork is then dropped into a homemade traditional hot water crust pastry case and topped with more pastry or toppings. At the beginning of each week, we spend two days preparing and baking pies.
Our pork pies are available plain in large or small sizes or large topped with Stilton, Shropshire Blue, apple sauce or caramelised onion chutney.
You can buy our pies directly from us, either at a market or on the farm, or you can try them at any of the pubs and micropubs that sell them.
